Founded in 1933, Orient Yacht Club from its beginning has been an integral part of the lives of sailing enthusiasts in Orient Harbor. The historic wharf on which our Clubhouse rests is a perfect location for members to access their boats, gather for social events, or sit for a spell and enjoy the sea air.
We are fortunate to have many long term members who remind us of our storied past as well as many newer members whose energy and enthusiasm keep alive and add to our traditions. Members are welcome to enjoy boating and social activities alike including afternoon Lightning and Sonar races, Thursday Night dinners, Friday Grill nights, and many special events.
The spirit of volunteerism drives our club – from Race Committees, to serving on our Board or helping out at our pot luck dinners each Thursday. Each summer our members step up. You need not look hard to find someone willing to crew for a skipper, lend a hand with a mooring, or to de-step a sailboat. This is the character of the Orient Yacht Club that we cherish.
The Orient Yacht Club runs a best-in-class sailing program for our Junior members. In recent years it’s become commonplace to find OYC sailors at the top of race results. Our instructors are among the best in the region and our students often continue to sail in college. Most importantly, our Junior members are having the times of their lives learning team work, gaining self confidence, and fostering a connection to the OYC that will last into the next generation.
OYC welcomes you to our redesigned website. We hope you enjoy it and find its newer features useful. For times when a visit to the Orient Yacht Club is not in your plans, we offer this site to you keep connected to our activities, our sailing, and our memories.
